With sights like the Grand Canyon, Mount Everest, and The Great Barrier Reef, we have to admit, we live in a beautiful world. So when Rough Guide asked its readers to pick the most beautiful country in the world, they had a tall task tallying the votes.

Containing beautiful beaches and exotic wildlife in places like Kruger National Park, South Africa came in number 5 on the Rough Guides list.

Many of us could eat our way through Italy, but it ranked number 4 because of it’s beautiful vistas. Gondola ride in Venice, anyone?

New Zealand has a diverse landscape, from mountain to farmland. It’s breathtaking views earned it the number 3 spot.

Canada has metropolitan cities sprinkled into large natural terrain. Mountains for skiing and rivers for fishing put Canada at number 2.

The number one choice for Most Beautiful Country from Rough Guides readers was Scotland. Whether looking for the Loch Ness Monster, taking in a chilly beach, or marveling at ancient castles, Scotland does leave the senses engaged. Maybe it takes this kind of beauty to create such good whiskey!
